Electrolysis hair removal treatment is affordable, safe and FDA & TGA approved. Electrolysis is the only hair removal method classified by the FDA as permanent hair removal. Electrolysis works on all hair and skin colours, and can be applied to all areas of the face and body. Electrolysis has no permanent side effects, only temporary redness following treatment. Sterile disposable probes are used with every treatment. Our Electrologists have Clinical Diplomas in Electrology and more than 15 years experience.

Electrolysis is considered a permanent hair removal method, since it destroys the hair follicle.

How Electrolysis Works

Electrolysis is the delivery of a fine probe into the hair follicle. Once in place an electrical current is delivered down the probe until sufficient destruction of the follicle has occurred and therefore hair has been released from its attachments in the follicle. At this stage the electrologist simply slides the hair from the follicle. There are two electrical currents that are referred to as electrolysis. The first current is Thermolysis which uses a build up of heat to cause destruction to the tissue in the follicle. The second is Galvanic, this current causes a chemical reaction to occur using the salt and moisture in the tissues. This reaction is highly destructive to the follicle. Both currents can be used simultaneously to create a greater amount of destruction at the one time. This modality is called the Blend. There are no permanent side effects of electrolysis only some temporary redness immediately following treatment. Adverse reactions such as scabbing and blistering are not typical of an electrolysis treatment.

The Hair Growth Cycle

The hair growth cycle is made up of 3 stages – the Anagen, Catagen and Telogen stages. The hair growth cycle lasts for approx 16 weeks so we are confident that each hair has been treated at least once in the first weeks of treatment – the clearing of the area. The second 16 week cycle is treating the regrowth and the third 16 week cycle is the maintenance and completion of the area. Excessive hair growth may require additional treatments. Optimal results are achieved with consistent treatments particularly in the first cycle of 16 weeks. Typically as we move into second 16 weeks treatments become less often or of shorter duration and continue this decrease as we move into the third 16 weeks of treatment.

Diploma Qualified Electrologists

Senior Skin Chemistry electrologists have attained Clinical Diplomas in Electrology and at least 15 years experience. They are highly qualified in providing all three modalities as is appropriate per client. We provide a thorough consultation including an explanation of technique, the process involved, and expected outcomes.

An individual treatment plan will be developed accommodating your medical history including medications and any type of prior treatment of the area.

This information is necessary as some medical conditions and medications may alter type of modalities used or deem the treatment not suitable. Only sterile disposable probes are used for every treatment.
